I arrived Thursday evening into Mexico City after catching my connection in Miami. I've enjoyed being back in Mexico. It has been 2 1/2 years since I last visited and 11 years since I lived here for a brief 10 month stint. Crime seems to be down a bit since my last visit and economically things seem to be picking up.

I went with my friend Adrian yesterday to run some errands. He and I found a great street taco stand and had lunch with fresh orange and papaya juice for all of about $3.50 US for the both of us. Pretty amazing, we spent twice that for cappuchino's in the afternoon in La Condesa, a more trendy area of Mexico City.

Adrian is on a photo shoot now, so I think I will walk to a market just a few blocks away and check out what they have to try and sell me. I lucked out on timing, Mexico is known for it's horrid air pollution. A result from high population and no emission controls combined with it's geographic location. Mexico is pretty much one giant valley/crater, and the pollution gets trapped by the weather above in what is known as a thermal inversion. Anyhow, around this time of year for about 3-4 days, the winds blow in, blow out the smog and debris and leave the city clear and beautiful. It started yesterday.::

Flying up from Trinidad to Miami. I have no idea where this is, but it was a nice view.

A view from Adrian's roof top.

Adrian and Laura's cat, Lou, enjoying the afternoon sun.

When I reached Adrian & Laura's apartment where I am staying, on Thursday, there was a protest in the street below. Apparently it was some student protest, but they seemed to be protesting everything, not one specific cause. Adrian itold me that there are often protests here, but it's more a fashionable thing to do than a cause to be passionate about for the students.

Sort of the classic Mexico shot with the statue of the Angel. I framed it off a bit, and ended up cutting the top off of the statue in front, which is Diana The Huntress. The classic green and white VW taxi seals the destination image.

With the air temporarily cleaned up , we were able to see one of the three volcanoes that surround Mexico City.

Carnival is a month away, March 3rd and 4th. Haven't decided if I will be playing yet though. I leave Thursday for a couple weeks to visit friends in Mexico, Texas, and Philadelphia. I will also be helping the folks pack as they are once again moving house.

Froogle, Google's shopping search engine is a Beta site worth checking out if you like to shop online.

Small White Wagon? Brad is redesigning again, unlike some of us who can barely update content on a regular basis. I'll work on a redesign after Carnival - ciao::
